Our Dance Classes

IDS is proud to offer professional dance training in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment. Our experienced and friendly teachers are dedicated to helping all students achieve their goals, whether they are beginners or experienced dancers.

This is where the training starts, but we guarantee that the fun never stops!

IDS provides a number of performance opportunities for our students such as, our annual school show, and also a chance to represent IDS at our annual Ignite Dance Festival!

We hold monthly workshops with industry professionals through our Ignite Associates' programme, and students also have the opportunity to be a part of our competition team!

Ballet

Classical Ballet forms the foundation of many different types of dance.

Ballet develops your core strength, flexibility, musicality, body control, focus and co-ordination as well as having an overall positive effect on the whole body.

Contemporary

Our Contemporary class incorporates elements of jazz, lyrical and acro dance. We focus on flexibility, musicality and technique whilst learning choreographed routines to create a beautiful and well-rounded performer.

Commercial

If you are looking for a dance class that is about developing a super high energy and a sassy style, Commercial is definitely for you. Dancers all over the world perform in this cutting edge dance style for Pop Artists in arena tours, awards ceremonies and in music videos. Commercial dance has evolved from Urban styles such as Hip Hop and Fused with a more theatrical Jazz style to give dancers the freedom to unleash their sass factor and strut their stuff in a style that is on trend and fabulous.

Jazz

Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Jazz dance can take on many different characteristics and styles and jazz classes can be patterned in any of these styles or a combination of them. Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style.

Acro

Acrobatic Dance, or acro as it is commonly referred to, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Often defined by unique choreography, acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, line and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context.

Acro technique includes balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength.

Musical Theatre

From stage hits to disney classics, this class gives the students a chance to sing and act as well as dance to really enhance their story-telling skills.

Heels 16yrs+ (Heels optional)

Our heels class is a fun dance workout which helps improve your core strength, balance and flexibility. This style of dance is often characterized by sharp, precise movements and a focus on footwork and body control.

With a Heels class you can burn as many calories as you would at a normal gym class so it’s a great way to keep fit!

Mini Movers

Mini Movers is a lively but structured dance classes for children aged 18 months - 3 years taking their first steps in dance. The classes develop physical skills and encourage creativity, expression and confidence. Through participation in appropriate learning activities, children learn:

to move with control, coordination and confidence,
an awareness of their body and how it moves through space,
a sensitivity to music, and expression of emotions through movement.

It's the perfect way to introduce your little ones to the magical world of dance. Grown ups will stay in the studio with students so that everybody feels comfortable in pointing their feet, and bringing those big smiles!
